Welcome to Elemental Landscape. We are located in Asheville, NC and
serve all of western North Carolina. Our services include
retaining walls,
decks,
patio,
stone
work,
water features,
gardens,
water management,
grading and
tree care.
We also build hiking trails and perform stream-bank
restorations. We offer a free site analysis to better assist
you with your
goals!
Regardless of the project, our goal is to have a minimal impact on the
environment. We do this by using native plants, and local
stone.
Our tiered landscaping and creative grading are designed to not only
look nice, but function well with the surrounding area. This
means less maintenance, giving you
more
time to enjoy the beauty of your land.
If you have drainage problems, we will correct them in a way that is
effective and esthetically pleasing. We can install rain
gardens, recessed swales or "French" drains to manage surface water and
improve drainage.
According to recent studies, as published in the
Miami Herald,
Money
magazine, and
Realtor
Magazine Online, landscaping can
increase a home's value up
to 15%. Meanwhile, poor landscape design can actually decrease property
values by up to 10-percent according to an earlier study published in
the
Journal of
Environmental Horticulture.

Retaining
walls are used to provide support for vertical or
near-vertical
grade changes. They also prevent erosion.
A steep lot can be tiered to make it more accessible.
Retaining walls can be made using locally-milled native
timbers, treated wood, prefabricated block or boulders.
Boulder walls are our specialty. They are strong,
long-lasting and create a sense of permanence.

A
deck is a great way to expand the living area of your home.
It is often the best way to add useful space on very steep or
wooded slopes. In addition to
decks,
we offer other woodwork including pergola, trellis, stair and
fence design.

A
patio (Spanish for "back garden") is a great place to enjoy your yard.
Patios can be set with mortar or dry-laid in stone screenings
offering a decorative
area for dining and/or recreation.

As
mentioned above, we use native stone so you achieve a natural look.
Stone work may include benches, stairs, walkways or a number
of
other designs to enhance your property.

Water
can add character to any garden. It provides beautiful sounds
and can even cancel out noise from nearby
streets. Water features can include pond-free waterfalls and streams,
fountains and koi ponds. They are a great addition to any
property. We can also repair and restore existing
stream-banks using proven effective techniques.

We
specialize in xeriscape gardens which use native plants.
Native
plants require less care and watering as they have adapted to the local
environment. This is a great way to have a beautifully
landscaped
yard without a lot of maintenance on your part.
Garden designs can include water features, stone work, or other
additions based upon your goals.

Many
clients contact us concerning water runoff and drainage issues.
These issues can be resolved by grading the land to more
favorable contours. Sometimes, recessed swale will send water in
a suitable direction. Swales are designed to reduce the velocity
of stormwater and reduce sedimentation of streams. Often,
installing a simple "French" drain will do the trick.
Another effective choice is the rain-garden.
Rain-gardens
are landscaped areas designed to catch and soak up water from rooftops,
driveways, and other impermeable surfaces. A rain-garden can soak
up about 30% more water than a conventional lawn. It is a simple
feature that can help replenish local aquifers and protect waterways
from flooding and sedimentation. During the initial consultation
we analyze the site and discuss the best options.
Many
projects require some grading or creative sculpting of the land.
This is often the most effective way to direct water flow, build
lasting hiking trials and create level areas on slopes. We design
these changes to increase the usefulness, accessibility and safety of
the area. Above all, our goal is to minimize the impact on
existing species, prevent adverse runoff and blend into the landscape
as if it were always so.
We
can professionally prune your landscape and fruit trees. Larger
specimens can be pruned by one of our close affiliates. You can
schedule a consultation to have the plants and trees on your property
identified. We can remove invasive species, manage forested areas
and maintain hiking trails.
We use
bio-diesel in our equipment and are proud members of the
Green Building Council.
